Medium Duty Cable Ladders (CL55 Series) are heavy-gauge steel cable
support systems designed for the organised routing of heavy power
cables, control cables and instrumentation cables in industrial,
mining and commercial electrical installations across South Africa.
Unlike cable trays — which have a solid or slotted bottom — cable
ladders have an open rung design that provides maximum ventilation
around cables, allowing them to run cooler and carry higher current
loads than the same cable in a fully enclosed tray. This makes cable
ladders the preferred choice for large power cable installations where
heat dissipation is critical.
Supplied in standard 3 metre lengths with a 55mm side rail height,
the CL55 series is available in 6 widths from 100mm up to 500mm —
suitable for everything from small control cable runs to large multi-
cable power distribution installations.
Cable Ladder vs Cable Tray — Which Do You Need?
- Cable Ladder — Open rung design. Best for large power cables
requiring maximum ventilation and higher current ratings.
Preferred for industrial and mining installations.
- Cable Tray — Solid or slotted bottom. Best for smaller cables,
data cables and installations requiring full cable support along
their entire length.
